1852 - On April 6th, a community service in the home of Thomas
Spencer, on Spencer lake.
1856 - Rev. R. S. Hayward of the Waupaca Mission organizes
Parfreyville Methodist Episcopal Church.
1856 - Rev. Osborn holds services in Schoolhouse, (Parfreyville Road
and "K") Cemetery begun to North.
1860 - A parsonage built on a hill across the road and West.
1866 - Village miller, J. O. Cass, donated land for a church building
on Spencer Lake Road, southwest of present church.
1870 - Dedication of Church.
1882 - Crystal Lake and Grant Churches organized, with the Rev. W. D.
Cornell appointed to serve on the Parfreyville
Circuit of three churches.
1892 - The Epworth League was organized.
1898 - Women's Foreign Missionary Society organized. Also, the
trustees sold the old parsonage, and erected a new
one on the present site. Total cost: $1500.
1905 - June 10th, the cornerstone of the present Church was laid.
November, church completed and dedicated. Cost: $3400. Mrs.
Ben Waid becomes organist - for forty years!
1908 - Mite Society becomes Ladies Aid. Junior Epworth League begun.
1911 - Twenty-five regular members of the Men's Bible Class donated
work and material to construct two Sunday School
rooms in the church basement.
1918 - The Standard Bearers, a young women's missionary society,
begun
1919 - Two more Sunday School rooms built. Electric lights installed,
using the old gas lamp fixtures.
1932 - New electric lights installed.
1940 - Ladies Aid and Women's Foreign Missionary Society join to form
The Woman's Society of Christian Service.
1941 - Parfreyville Circuit loses Grant Church which goes on with
Almond for 4 or 5 years. Grant
Church dismantled 1953.
1943 - Parfreyville is placed on Waupaca Charge.
1945 - Church hall acquired.
1947 - Frances Schrock becomes the Church Organist.
1953 - An electric Baldwin Spinet Organ is installed.
1954 - The kitchen at the Hall is remodeled. Church Newsletter,
"The Link" begins publication. Somewhere in here-inside plumbing in the church.
1956 - Centennial Observed. Over
a two-month period beginning July 1, we had a Consecration Service, Picnic, Grant Church Day, Ice Cream Social,
Auction, Descendants Day, Banquet, Founders Tea, Pageant, and Rededication Day. 200 Members.
1959 - Parfreyville becomes a single-point Charge.
1964 - Grant Church marker dedicated.
1965 - Conn "Rhapsody" Organ installed.
1968 - New covered entrance planned and built.
1969 - "United Methodist Women" succeed W.S.C.S.
1974 - Charlotte Sawyer becomes Church Organist. Marker for old
Parfreyville Methodist Episcopal Church dedicated.
1975 - Addition built on to Parsonage: Study, modern Kitchen,
Basement, and Attic.
1981 - First full-time Pastor for Parfreyville alone. One hundred and
Twenty-fifth Anniversary celebrated in November,
with "The Great Parade" Anniversary Service, Anniversary Bon-Fire,
Hymn-Sing, Homecoming Service
and Reception, and A Banquet - 211 Members.
1995 - Old Parsonage razed. Parking
lot put where old parsonage stood. New
Parsonage built about 50 yards to the east
closer to the river. The existing church
re-modeled again, reversing the Sanctuary and adding a two story addition with a new fellowship
hall, kitchen, bathrooms, elevator, offices, and classrooms.
1997 - Old church hall sold.
